The Sierra Group of Independent Title Agents is an independent association consisting of six separate companies operating in 2 states, 6 counties, 9 cities and 11 offices. Each company has its own individual history and background, each contributing to the development of the Sierra Group. These six companies are run by independent Title Agents and include:
The origin of the Sierra Title Group began with its formation in Edinburg, Texas, September, 1969. Today, Sierra Title of Hidalgo County has expanded, and maintains offices in Weslaco, McAllen and Edinburg. Sierra Title Company of Cameron, Willacy, & Kenedy Counties, Inc. was formed in October, 1979 in Brownsville and Harlingen, Texas as Metro Title Company, Inc. The company covered business primarily in Cameron County and several years later, included Willacy County in 1995. Through the course of twenty years, Sierra Title Company of Cameron, Willacy, & Kenedy Counties, Inc. has grown from three employees to more than 33 employees today. Sierra Title of El Paso has roots that grow more than fifty years “deep.” The company started in 1946 as Southwest Title and Abstract Company, the premiere title company in West Texas at the time. Southwest then sold to Pioneer National Title, which then became Ticor Title. After years of successful advancement, Ticor merged with a Chicago Title in 1993, which then resold to Sierra a year later. Today, Sierra Title of El Paso operates 5 locations, specializes in both commercial and residential re-sales, and runs the largest relocation closing department in El Paso. The newest member of the Sierra Title Group is Great Western Abstract & Title Company, LLC (GWAT). Great Western Abstract & Title Company, LLC was established in January 2012. GWAT is a joint venture between Sierra Title Company, Inc. and Great Western Abstract Title Company, LLC. Currently, we have 2 well trained and qualified employees that are ready to service the needs of our clients. Our office is located at 6350 Escondido Drive, STE # D23 in El Paso Texas. This office services our client's throughout New Mexico as well as El Paso County.
